I've just been turned down for a loan with Alliance and Leicester. I needed 20,000 pounds over 4 years. I didn't choose the insurance therefore, I believe this could be the reason for the refusal. Does anyone know which companies will lend this kind of amount without insurance (PPI). Thanks in advance.

Egg is not bad with the whole insurance (PPI) things. If you think it will serve you better, you can even take it out and then cancel it at any time. I would be inclined to contact Alliance and Leicester and ask them about the refusal. It might be something as simple as if they were not happy with the total loan amount etc... You might even made something wrong on your application that got it refused. You could ask about their insurance. Be careful before submitting other applications in as a couple of refusals in a short time could reduce chances of getting a decent rate.
