Hello there people. Couple of days ago, I heard in my company that we are getting ready for adjusting the face value on bonds in accretion. I am not connected to the financial sector, but I became interested. Can you tell me what accretion is and why our securities have to be revalued? Thank you.

Hello hello. To tell you the truth, I don’t know much about these things, but I will try to help you somehow. As far as I know, accretion is one of the ways in which a company can achieve growth. Basically, accretion can be done by mergers and acquisitions, when company purchases some other business or merges with it. It can also be done via internal expansion, such as investing into new production line or some other facilities. Now, when the business expands it has to adjust value of its securities because the entire stock has to reflect a new, expanded value. There is entire process regarding this issue. Well, that is all I can tell you. I hope that you will find this post useful. Bye!
