Are there any people who have traded in exotic options here? I am just venturing into options, and want to make them an integral part of my portfolio. But I am not sure that I know enough about them yet to start investing. Take exotic options for instance - what are all types of them and what are they?

Oh, I think that there are far too many exotic options to name them all on here - you can buy whole books about them. If you are just starting to trade in options, I would stick to the over the counter market, and to straight put and call options. Those exotic options will come later, perhaps.

Did you know that all options that are somewhat out of the ordinary can be referred to as exotic options? This can include options on which the payoff at maturity depends on its value at several points in the options' life, or options that depend on several indexes... or Asian options... There are lots of them.

The two first ones that are mentioned in the previous post can be extremely complicated and frustrating to beginning options investors, not to mention financially very risky! I am always saying to people who have not done options before that they shouldn't touch those, and I am repeating that once again now.
