| Hello. I just found out that I’m pregnant for almost 5 weeks. I already have a job and I’m not sure what the procedure of pregnancy leave is. I would also like to know am I intitled to Redundancy when pregnant? Will I be paid at all? Thanks in advance. |

| Redundancy is not connected with maternity leave at all, and being redundant is something none of us usually wants. Selecting a woman for redundancy because she is pregnant is unfair dismissal and your employer should be aware of that fact. However, you will be entitled to a maternity pay. After your maternity leave you’ll have the right to return to exactly the same job. It is possible for the employer to offer you other position at the firm, if it is a small firm or if they must hire another person to do your job. Maternity leave usually starts after the 11th week before the expected week of childbirth, but, you can chose to work for almost all your pregnancy. Don’t forget your obligation to notify your employer. |
