| Hi. Like every healthy minded, normal person I don't want to pay taxes if I don't absolutely have to. Now I am about to buy a property with some land and I am wondering whether paying Stamp Duty will be an inevitable form of torture, or perhaps I can get myself out of it is some way? All your comments are welcome. Thanks. |

| Whether you pay Stamp Duty - now known officially as Stamp duty land tax (SDLT) - and how much, depends on the value of the property you are buying and on the location. So called "deprived areas" are exempted from the tax. As I understand you already have a specific property in mind, you will most likley be liable for the tax. Remember that the deadline for sending of the forms is four weeks after the transaction is completed. |
