Hi. I am about to start house hunting with my girlfriend. Both of us are first time buyers without, of course, any experience in this matter. We know that, depending on the value of the property we might be liable to pay one, two or three per cent of the value in Stamp Duty Land Tax. That is where you come in. We need you to tell us what the best way is of avoiding to pay this tax.

I must say that these people asking questions of how to going about tax evasion are becoming pretty boring to me by now. HELLO PEOPLE - Did you not know that tax evasion is against the law, in other words, illegal, in other words, a crime!? Unless of course you want to simply buy a property under the threshold, which is almost impossible now, or live on a run down council estate in one of the exempted areas!?
