| I have recently been late with paying a bill. However, few days ago my sister paid some money into my account. However, as I need to make a payment immediately, I am not sure whether the cheque I will write will bounce, since I do not know how long does it take for money to be cleared and seen on the account. Thanks for any information. |

| Although you are in a bit of a rush, I think you should have no problem with your payment. First of all, when you, or anyone else, sends money to your account, it is cleared immediately. On the other hand, cheques need usually around 3-5 days to get cleared. That means that you are certainly covered, so there is really nothing to worry about. Of course, the whole clearing process has several steps, and somewhere in the middle of it, the bank checks whether you have enough money, so be sure never to write cheque first, and send some money into your account a day or two later, as it will then almost certainly bounce. Best of luck. |
