Hi everyone. I have quite a big back garden and the house in which I live I own outright. It has recently crossed my mind that I could actually build another house in the garden, something to leave to the children. The land is my property, so there should be no problem in getting a building permission, right?

Wrong. Assuming that you are, like me, living in England and not in let's say, Turkey, the Middle East or some Eastern European country. When travelling this is a phenomenon I came across rather a lot in the above mentioned areas. It results in "sight pollution", ie, having to look at ugly things. Fat chance our government will allow you to do something like that!
