It always great plan to buy a second house for the reasons you have mentioned. But before you ever consider investing into second property you have to think about several things. Firstly, you have to consider mortgage due to the fact that it has increased for second homes and become more expensive. Secondly, you have to include in your plan any fees that will come from legal costs. Also consider insurance as well. Since you will not use that house all the time you have to pay for its maintenance also buying furniture is going to be needed. If that home is far from your main residence think about ways to get there. By air, train or by car; all of this will affect your budget. Moreover the taxes will affect the budget due to the fact that there are a lot to be paid.
