I have recently started thinking about buying a property. However, as I do not have too much money, I have to plan the costs very carefully. One of the ideas I had is to buy at an auction. If anyone could tell me whether that is actually a good idea, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Auctions tend to be a good choices when you are not having enough time to look thoroughly on the market. On the other hand, you are not likely to get a mortgage for that one, as after buying at an auction you can only have small amount of time before you make a payment. However, if you have enough money not to be taking a mortgage, an auction will offer you some very good properties. I would suggest you do that, but also to be careful about what you are buying, as sometimes people regret their auction choices, especially when it comes to their homes. Best of luck.
