| Hi. Are there any tax experts on this forum? I am house hunting and I am researching all the costs. I would like to find a way around paying stamp duty. Who wants to pay taxes if it can be avoided? Only I dont know how I should go about this. Is it possible and how? |

| Your best bet might be to buy a house in a so-called deprived area. The Labour government exempted a list of these areas from stamp duty in order to stimulate sales. Until the decision was made many of these properties were extremely difficult to sell. There are quite a number of these deprived areas and a list can be found on the web. Good luck. |
