I'm renting a house and have two tenants. I have to pay two council taxes: one for the house I live in and one I rent. My tenants are late with their payment and that caused financial problem. Can I somehow delay the council tax? It would mean to me if I could pay it later.

| As a landlord I presume that you made a deal with your tenants that suites you. But since they are not able to pay on time any more the deal became different. You should make a better arrangement about late rent payment. This obviously makes problems to you so try to find compromise with them. Council tax must be payed on time and there is no option to delay it. You would find out this if you contact the local authority. Changes in council tax can be made with some reasons like valuation, exclusion from tax etc. But it's not use in your case. Your only problem is that you want to be late with payment and that's not possible. If you don't make another deal with your tenants you should consider borrowing money. You have a good chance of taking a secured loan since you are a property owner. |
