I read a newspaper article about a firm's debt being cancelled. It was very interesting and now I am asking myself whether this is something that occurs more often, or whether it is a very rare thing. Have any of you experience with this? I would like to hear from you in that case.

This is not something that happens very often to be honest with you. The firm in question was more likely than not a public one, or semi public one. If not, debts are not cancelled but the company goes bankrupt instead. What would be the reason for saving the company?
