| Hello, I’m Marta and I’m definitely going to insure myself. A friend of mine had an accident at home and, due to the fact that he wasn’t insured, he had to pay for all his hospital bills which were seriously high so he had to use some of his savings for it. I really would not like that to happen to me. Friends at work have already suggested a number of insurance agencies but I still haven’t made up my mind. I want to know the following- do I have to pay tax on my insurance? I heard from some people that you have an obligation to do it. So what’s the thing with charging taxes on insurance? I don’t understand it. Thanks |

Hi, Marta. I must admit that I’m astounded at what I hear from you. I can’t understand that there are still people who are not insured nowadays. No offence This is the only way you can safeguard yourself from unwanted and unexpected health conditions. What is more, this is a good move since insurance may be a kind of investment. I heard at work that you could sell it for good money depending on your rates. As far as I know, VAT is charged only for the gross insurance premiums. I think this means that if anything happens to you while you are insured, the payment, which you receive from the insurance company, is going to be taxed and you are the one who has to pay for it. |
