Hello everybody! My name is Edwina and I am currently unemployed. I would also like to try to get a loan for some repairs I need to do in my home. I am interested if the is checking on my employment status by the bank is something I can’t avoid? Thank you in advance for your posts.

Hello to you too Edwina. I’m afraid that you cannot avoid checking on your employment status. Banks and all other types of lending institutions need to be sure that you can pay back your loan. That’s why they ask for your credit history (or credit score), they want to know about your other debts if you have them and, off course, what is your income. Maybe you could manage to get some loan after all. If you have a good credit history or a guarantor (like your family member, for example) maybe you can negotiate with a bank to give you some loan. You should definitely try. I wish you all the best!
