| What if somebody steal my identity and start using my credit cards and funds? I know that it is possible that someone asks for credit in your name and normally all we have to do is a fraud alert. But I have heard for a more radical step: credit freezing. The problem is that such action is approved by the state law and I live in Nevada and want to know when it will be enabled here. |

| Credit freeze is really one step going further from fraud alerting and means that no one can open any credit form in your name and your credit file is off limits for lenders, insurers and employers. But you get PIN numbers and you are allowed to let the potential employers run the background check of your files. Credit freeze was approved in California for the first time and then in Louisiana, Texas, Vermont and Washington. Next year Nevada, Illinois, Connecticut, Maine and Colorado will start offering credit freeze option to the victims of identity thefts as well as to the other citizens. |
