Definition of direct taxation?

| Apparently there are different kinds of tax. Direct taxation and indirect taxation are different things. But in what way they are different and what is indirect and direct about, I am just not too sure about that. Can you give me a definition of what direct taxation means? Thanks for your help. |

| Hello. The term direct tax confusingly has different meanings in different countries. In the United Kingdom, it means simply taxes that are levied directly - be it from an individual or a company - and income tax is the best and most known example of this. In he US, the term has several meanings... |
