| I am considering how best to sell my flat as I am going to have to move to the other side of the country due to work reasons. Already I have told all my friends that this is what I am planning and now an acquaintance has come forward out of the blue offering to buy my flat. Is this possible? Do I need an estate agent or can I do without? |

| I would thin twice of selling to a friend or someone you know. If your house has hidden defects you might find yourself in a position you will pay for work done on the property even though you are not legally responsible. Anyway, you are not obliged to sell through an estate agent but it has great advantages. Though it is more expensive they do take care of all the red tape which is difficult to do yourself. |
