Do I need permission to re-build my house?

| Hi everyone. After my father passed away I inherited the house in which I grew up. My wife and I have taken a long time to discuss what we would do with the place, but as you can understand it is close to my heart. We would like to live there ourselves but the place is not in very good condition any more and frankly needs to be completely rebuilt. Would I need permsission for something like that? |

| Are you joking? These days they are so very strict about these matters that it is almost unbelievable. You practically need permission if you want to retile your bathroom or even paint the walls! OK, now I am exeggarating of course but you get the point. Get in touch with your local council ASAP to see what paperwork you would need. |
