Does liquidate mean selling the assets of business?

| Do you know anything about liquidation? I have a friend in a country far away and he is telling me that he can’t come because he is in the middle of liquidation process and I’ve heard so many things about this company, so far, so I feel pretty sorry for his situation. I would like to learn more about this process, for instance, tell me does liquidate mean selling the assets of business? |

| I know that assets have no point in the company anymore, for the company does not exist in the first place, so what would be their purpose? Every activity over those assets would be illegal, from the way I see it. So I think that they are about to sell all the assets, or they can do whatever they wish with it, since there is no point of assets to exist without entity to support their activities. |
