I have a very serious health problem and I'm thinking about early retirement. I have joined a personal pension scheme. How will that affect my pension? Since there is a possibility that it can get worse maybe I'll need money for medical treatment. Can I get some money to pay for it? Any advice on this matter will be helpful.

| As you already know you, early retirement will affect your pension, and you should know your options. I'll try to explain this so you could find out would you have enough money for your needs. Your state pension can be claimed only after you reach certain age, and it's 65 for men. Basic state pension depends on qualifying years which are concerned as paying for insurance contributions during a tax year. So you can pay these contributions voluntary or if you take a part-time job. With personal or company pension you should check the scheme because terms are different. Your pension will be smaller for sure and it should be enough for a longer time then expected. But since your early retirement is because of health problems you will have some benefits that could help you financially. The good way is to increase contributions to your personal pension scheme in order to have money later. Consult with your pension provider and find out everything about available options. Now is a good time to deal with this situation. Good luck! |
