| Hi could you help me with a little question on council tax? I am a student, and at the moment I am living alone and therefore getting the single persons discount on the council tax. Now I am thinking about getting a flat mate in to help pay the rent and bills. What does this mean to the council tax? |

| Hi. If your flat mate is registered and paying council tax at some other address, you might be able to avoid having to cancel the singles discount. For instance, the person is paying council tax at his parents while he is away studying, and living in the flat with you. This might be the best way to do it. Although I am not sure how big the discount is and if it is worth doing that. |
