| Dear "Which", how hard is it to sell a house without an estate agent? I find that they are very expensive, rather pretentious and often even arrogant! Not to mention their frequent contribution to the "gazumping" which goes on the British market. And that's a real plague, which is actually against the law in most other European countries. What is your opinion about all this? |

| Dear "Concerned Seller", it can be harder but certainly not impossible. I totally agree with your opinion of the estate agents in general. I even find that they are very much part of the crazy price rises which are occurring on this housing market. All together and although they hide behind so called professional bodies, more often than not they react like a mafia and are frequently very unprofessional. This is why some private individuals have set up their own private networks. These are usually free or will charge you only a nominal cost recovery contribution. I do recommend that you look out for them on the net. And that you find yourself a good conveyancer... That's far more important and expensive enough! |
