| Hi. I am about to buy a new car. Up until now i have always bought second hand vehicles, and among other benefits to this, such as the car being generally cheaper, I have also avoided paying VAT on these cars. Now, though, I understand there is quite a large sum to be added to this in VAT. But exactly how much? |

| This is a tax charged on almost everything, even if you are not thinking about this. Your normal supermarket shopping, your clothes; all of this is subject to the VAT claws. In the UK the rate for VAT is currently set at 17,5 per cent, something which is set by the government each year. If you want to know how much that would add to your car bill, take a calculator and add 17,5 per cent. |
