How much is stamp duty on building costs?

| Hi. I am planning to have a house built for me and my family and I am looking into all of the consequences of doing so. I was talking to some friends about the project and they have all been saying that I will have to pay stamp duty on the building costs. Can anyone tell me how much this will be? |

| Paying Stamp Duty on building costs? As far as I have always understood the tax, you pay the tax on the property itself or on the land you are buying. You will have to check this with the Inland Revenue, but I think that in your case you have to pay tax only on the plot of land that you will buy for the building of the house. |
