Our small business has gone through three independent accountants in the last year! We have not been happy with any one of them, and now we are once again looking for an accountant to run our book keeping. My question is, what your tips are for interviewing accountants. And also, how should we go about finding a reputable and professional accountant?

The answer is - I don't know. The disadvantage of a small business is that it does not justify the expense of larger firms of chartered accountants. On the other hand, these might also have specialised divisions for small businesses. Rather than to employ an accountant in house with the risk of the problems you experienced, I would suggest to identify a professional firm. They should have such a specialised division. And when you are not happy you simply ask them to send another person.

That is some great advice. That is what we did in our company and it has worked out great.
