| I have been following the IHT threads on various forums for some time now. But it is not clear how this all functions. In fact I am due to inherit a property in part. I know that inheritance tax is liable to be paid on the property after it passes over to me and the other person, in this case my brother. Is there any way of avoiding to pay that? Do you have any suggestions? |

| One way of avoiding to pay inheritance tax is for the person you is intending to leave you a property to in fact pass over the property to you and your brotehr as a gift before passing away. Many people are doing so. But this then invokes another tax - Stamp Duty. The tax collectors, in other words, will catch up with you in one way or another, sooner or later. |
