| Is a term making a placement referring to banks? I am sorry if I sound like a complete dummy to you, but I guess it is what I am. Now, I read something about it, and I really have a problem understanding the matter. Can somebody explain it to me please? I really need your help with this one, no chance I can understand it myself |

| Hi there. I really do not know what to tell you. This is the area I have been having difficulties understanding also. I think that making a placement may refer to banks, but not only to them. Banks may become investors I think, and I am not really sure whether they may make a placement too, buy issuing their securities. Anyway, as far as I know, this process refers to a company which wants to make more capital, and it does it by offering its securities to the market. If the company offers securities to a couple of well known, safe and stable companies (such as investment funds, banks, pension funds) this process is known as private placement. If it offer it publicly, it is known as a placement. |
