Is stamp duty on new house going to cost much?

| Hi. After having got married this year, my husband and I are now hoping to get on the property ladder very soon. But the costs are terribly high! And not to speak of stamp duty. If we buy a new house, will the stamp duty cost us much? Can anyone give us any indication? |

| Lower income couples in London are having to pay almost a year's wages on Stamp Duty taxes... It just goes to show, what kind of a crisis we have reached in this country. One way of avoiding these taxes is to buy in an exempted area of stamp duty... A list of those can be found through the Inland Revenue. |
