Been trying to understand the difference between direct and indirect taxation and I am not doing all that well I have to admit, so I was wondering if you are willing to give me a helping hand in this. I hope that something like this will give me a starting edge in trying to study these two forms of taxation.

Some times this is a hard thing to distinguish and in some instances these two are not interesting for distinguishing at all. I think that this has to be very important in law, but in every day life it is not as important as it is suppose to be. If you look at the United States Constitutional law you would be able to find what direct taxes are and you would find that poll tax and property taxes are direct taxes. So all taxes that are based on ownership are direct taxes, for future reference and you can figure out what indirect taxation is from previous sentence.
