| What about maternity pays and who’s entitled to them? Can any employed mother obtain maternity pay? I am permanently employed for seven years and I think I have right for statutory maternity pay and for maternity allowance as well. Can any one submit more information for this subject? I need to clear what my rights are since my employer would take any opportunity to cut them off. |

| Every woman who is employed within one company for at least 26 weeks and by the 15th week before the baby is due has the right for statutory maternity pay which is on average £84 per week before tax. You said you were permanently employed so now you can ask for your wage. That SMP can be paid in two rates: for the first 6 weeks you get 90% of your average earnings and than you will get £112.75 per week for the remaining weeks. Maternity allowance is not related to your case because you haven’t change your job during pregnancy, you have right to get SMP and first of all you are not unemployed! |
