Can someone here tell me more about the so called odd lot trading order I have just heard about for the first time? Basically I am interested in the number of shares that are involved in such orders. Is this an odd number? What is the catch? If you could clarify, I would be very happy!
Haha, no it is not an odd number, it is in fact when a stock has fewer than a 100 shareholders that the trading order is referred to as being an odd lot trading order. These are considered unfavourable by some traders due to the fact that there are often higher transaction costs involved than if there were more than a 100 shares - a round lot.
