Hello, folks. I am currently in a process of buying a new house. There is one house that I like very much. It is very expensive and I will have to pay a large stamp duty. I would like to know if there is a way of reducing stamp duty. It would be great if someone could answer me this. I will appreciate it a lot.

Hello. I would like to help you. But you must pay your stamp duty. It is your obligation. You can try to bargain for the price of the house. Try to lower its price in the way you could pay less stamp duty. For example: the price is £270.000 and you have to pay 3% of stamp duty. If the owner lowers the price under £250.000, then your stamp duty will be 1%. Don’t try to pay less for house and the rest of the value to pay in a way that no one knows. It is considered a fraud. It will be legally sanctioned.
