I just realized that I agreed to work on a client's computer afterwork. The problem is, I rode my bicycle to work today. Now I have to ride the bicycle to his place in my work clothes.

Plus, I have to carry my laptop on the bike with me and the rest of my gear (shower stuff, towel, biking stuff, running stuff).

This could be an interesting bicycle ride home tonight.

I know how you feel. Sometimes I goof up like that too. Have you got paniers or a backpack?

I have a dufflebag for my cycling gear/running gear/shower stuff. It is bungie corded onto a rack on the back of the bike. The laptop goes in my backpack. The backpack has a lined sleeve for the laptop, so it is protected.

Invest in a set of panniers. Way less stress on your back and shoulders when you've got a load. Lots less sweaty too.

Well, the ride was good. I just miss the padding the cycling shorts gave. The client was a little surprised, and then impressed that I was riding my bicycle to and from work.

I normally don't carry the laptop home, so the backpack is usually not an issue. I did realize something with it though. The backpack is like a HUGE barn door when I'm down in the drops. The wind drag off of it is incredible.

Panniers may be something that I will purchase in a few months. They would be nice to have when the weather turns bad. That way my center of gravity is lower and it won't be as bad if I fall in snow or ice.

Does anybody have experience with commuting in snow? Advice on tires? I'll be asking this same question over in bikeforums in a few weeks.
