Is there perhaps anyone here who uses some form of digital gold currency? If so, I would love to hear from you. I would also like to hear from people who have bad opinions or experiences with such currencies. More specifically I am interested in finding out what the risks are of using such currency.

Apparently these currencies are bona fide. They are linked to the official value of gold, which is in fact exactly one of the main risks, though people who like using it would claim otherwise. The other thing I don't like is that it seems to be linked to tax evasion and other dubious activities quite a lot of the time, and the "banks" are mainly located in popular tax havens.
