I have recently started a small business and I am still operating on a relatively local scale. As I would like to spread it a bit, but to remain at a small business, I was thinking of getting an professional advice. Somewhere I have heard about SCORE, but I am really not sure what is that. If anyone could help me, I would be grateful.

You are correct to be asking some advice from professionals, as getting bigger is always very risky. Also, the person from whom you have heard about SCORE knows what he or she is talking about. SCORE are actually counselors for small business in America. Their services are rather diverse, and you can even ask them for a business advice via e-mail. I suggest you visit their website http://www.score.org/ to learn lots more about them, as well as about some services they offer, and information regarding the small business they have posted there. Best of luck.

SCORE is a great resource. I have used them in the past and have found them to be very helpful. I would recommend them.
