Can I get peoples' views about mobile marketing and SMS marketing? What do you think about any code of conduct around this and do you see mobile marketing as ethical at all? I have been thinking about this a lot lately in the context of a campaign my company is running and I would appreciate your views.

I don't see SMS or mobile marketing as being any more or less ethical than any other form of marketing. After all, just because most people forgot where the "off button" on their mobile is located, it does not mean mobile marketing is any more invasive than receiving mail in the post, or even watching an ad on the telly.

I think that there should be more regulations about the ways in which customers' mobile numbers are obtained in order to be used in such mobile marketing. Sadly, I think that this is from the mobile phone provider in most cases. They should not be allowed to get away with that unless a mobile user has previously consented to their details being passed on to third parties, in my view.

Who says that there is no regulatory body when it comes to SMS marketing? I mean, SMS marketing must be covered by the general standards in advertising I am assuming. Does anyone here know which body is responsible for dealing with regulating marketing? It is this organization that should be contacted.
