It seems to me that I will need to start a new bank account soon as I am start working this month. I will probably get Visa debit card for start. I would like to know more about security of these cards. Are they completely safe, or there is still a possibility of fraud? Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Bank cards are usually considered very safe. Frauds happen pretty rarely, but also, when they happen, it never goes unnoticed. It seems to me that you should not worry too much about their security. Nevertheless, be sure to read an article on possibility of fraud at http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/03/
worst_hack.html. Also, a method of chip & PIN has given great results, so now the card is much safer than it was before. In any case, I strongly suggest you getting one, as there is no need to worry about any frauds.
