| Starting publishing business is indeed very risky. The reading public is very sensitive and if you really do what you need to do the right way, there will be no problem. On the other hand, only a few bad publishing decisions could mean a long struggle for profits. What you need to do is to choose carefully the books you will publish. That means that you first need to do a research and see where lies the greatest need. Is it in children literature, classic books reprinted, books on certain science or some other field of knowledge, books on popular science, etc. Also, you need to make contracts with writers very carefully, and to maintain good contacts with them, as trust is the most important thing. Do not expect large incomes right from the start and be prepared to wait a certain time for something like that. Best of luck. |
