Does anyone know some well known examples of copy fraud? I need to write an essay for my studies about it, but I am really not very familiar with this area, so I am not quite sure where to begin with my writing. So, if someone knows some example, I am looking forward to hear it. Thanks a lot for your help

Well, my personally favorite is the trial between Universal Studios and Nintendo in 1984. It is when Universal studios argued with Nintendo, claiming copyright over King Kong. Universal Studios claimed that Nintendo is making too much profit on their “Donkey Kong” game. Universal Studio claimed that the profit is caused by the similarity of name of the game to the name of the movie “King Kong”, also claiming that they own King Kong. Luckily, if you ask me, they have lost the case. Nintendo proved that the very same Universal Studios back in the 1975 claimed that the famous giant gorilla is in the public domain, and used this claim against RKO General.

IS it possible that they really thought that they could get away with owing King Kong??? I cannot believe it is true! I know of another famous case, but I did not hear about the one you have mentioned. The one I know about is a trial between SCO Group and Novell. SCO Group claimed that they own UNIX, and that Novell broke a law when they used Unix code in Linux. Of course, the trial has shown that their claims were untrue, and that Unix was owned by Novell. Anyway, I hope I helped at least a bit with this example.
