What can go wrong during bidding?

| I have heard that ebay is not always as great as people say that it is, and that all kinds of things can go wrong during bidding. This would then result in unhappy buyers that feel they have been cheated. Can you tell me just what that is, that can go wrong during bidding? |

| My worst experience with ebay was when I waited forever for my item, and even after several emails from the seller saying that the product was in the post, I still received nothing. I eventually heard that the ebay store had gone bust and I would not be receiving my (expensive) item. The pay pal dispute is still running now. |
