My husband and I bought a house two months ago. We were choosing for a long time and now, when we moved in, we found out that it's not like we were told. A seller said one attic dimensions, but we concluded that it.s smaller. There are some other things but they are less important to us. We want to react. What happens when a seller does not provide truthful info?

| When buying a house certain details must be noticed. You should have been more careful and made a better inspection. Now you already moved in and there are certain things that you can't prove anymore because you could correct them in two months. This doesn't aply for attic because you certainly didn't make it smaller. In your case I think that it would be easy to prove that seller didn't say the truth. But many people find themselfs in a situation without options. Once you signed the paper you agreed to take the house as it is. But you would have a good chance to react efficiently. You should consult a lawyer to receive a legal advise. He would probably suggest to inform a seller that you want to sue and give him a chance to resolve this out of court. If that doesn't work you can sue and probably win. It's never possible to determine how long it's going to take so prepare to lose some time. Some people give up because they think that it's not worth it so decide for yourself. |
