There is something that I can’t understand no matter how hard I try. Namely, I have heard that there is some kind of debt which has to be paid on the Maturity Date, and I really don’t get what that actually means when I know that maturity date is the term used for bonds, shares and other kinds futures.

I think that you have a wrong idea about maturity date. This term doesn’t refer only to the mortgages and loans but also, as you have already mentioned, to the futures which then means bonds and shares. So, on the maturity date, in case you have borrowed some money, that is if you have a loan, you have to clear all your obligations concerning regular payments and if you have invested into shares or bonds you can expect to be paid interest rate. I suppose that this is what you meant by debt.

We are not experts here, and some of us may be wrong but sometimes you can find some useful information here. Maturity date is generally speaking connected with the last moment when some obligations have to be paid off. For example, when you buy a house or a car and if you take some kind of loan or mortgage for that, maturity date is the date when you have to pay your last installment rate and only then will the house or car become yours. Before that, the house is still owned by the one who has sold it to you and in case you are not able to pay even only the last rate, the house will be taken away from you. That is, I suppose, what is meant by debt when it comes to maturity date.
