Hi, couple of days ago I have read a very interesting article about collateral securities. I thought I learned enough. However when I have tried to explain this to my nephew I was unpleasantly surprise because I realized that I did not understood it as good as I thought. So I could use your help. What kind of securities is called collateral?

Well, these matters are not so easy to learn. On my opinion it is way too complicated. You cannot learn about it just reading from the newspapers. You really should take some time and devoted to studiously reading about collateral securities. Only this way you will be able to explain this to someone else.

Collateral security is every bond, stock or other security that we use to secure the loan that we have made. Basically these securities are pledge that we will going to pay are loan at the maturity. If we do not do it, our lender will sell the securities and repay the loan. There are many forms of collateral securities.
