Once I jumped into this commercial world I found myself overbooked with lots of activities besides making a profit I have tax forms to fill in. I see now that there are various taxes that an artist has to pay and I wonder if there’s a guide through this field so that we can all breathe easier and try to escape basic pitfalls of taxation. I read somewhere that self –employed artist when taking short-term contract (couple of days) should pay daily rate approximately £175 – £300 in UK. What tax should an artist pay?

If you are self – employed or a free lancer you should pay your taxes on a quarterly basis. Paying that self- employment tax is just the way of paying social security tax. On every April 15th you will have to file a federal income tax return on the amount of gross income earned. Don’t forget to file business license return on an annual basis.
