| Hi! My girlfriend and I are dating for almost 3 years. We are planning to get married soon; we are only waiting for the right time. We would like to merge our individual checking accounts into one joint checking account. Do you have any advice about joint accounts? Do you think this is wise thing and is there anything we should be aware of? |

| These days lots of couples are deciding to open a joint account. Problem is that combining all income into a joint checking account can make confusions and complications. It can also cause resentment and power struggles. So you are probably asking why couples do that at all. It is because there are lots of advantages from joint accounts. A joint account is an account which is opened in the names of more than one person. A joint account agreement is typically needed to open a joint account. This agreement will have details like whether transaction requires the signature of all parties. Before you decide to open a joint account you need to know that you can trust each other. |
