Patents have been applied for. Design and development are complete for this first stage. But now I have to move over to production as my own development workshop is too small. Where shall I get my product manufactured? Should I entrust anyone with this? Should I build a factory and do it myself? I can see so many critical issues and need some advice. What are your thoughts on this?

Critical issues indeed! It is a major consideration to entrust someone with the manufacturing of your product. I am surprised you only came to that at this late stage. As the proof of the cake is in the eating, you'll have to get production going to confirm your projections. So it is more expedient at this stage to choose someone to do it for you. You'll have to establish a grid of criteria and appraise a number of potential firms through it. These "candidates" are easily identified through the yellow pages, Chambers of Commerce or even word of mouth. Costing is by no means the most important factor. Your free access, the level of cooperation, the quality control, and of course trust are but only a few. And then, when the product has proven itself, you can start to look at your own plant. Maybe even in partnership with the initial manufacturer...
