| I have some debts toward a bank and it has accumulated over the past months due to my unfortunate business. I have heard that one of the options banks use are the debt collectors. However, I am really not to pleasant thinking about them. I would like to know who they really are and can they cause some awkward situations? Thanks for the help. |

| Having debt is never pleasant, so I understand that feeling. However, there is nothing to be afraid about when it comes to debt collectors. They have strict rules of dealing with you. If you have a lawyer they will contact him. Also, if you do not, they can contact the people that know you, to find out about where you live or your phone number, but they may not state the purpose to any third party. Also, unless you agree, they may not contact you at work, nor too early at the morning, or too late at night. I suggest you go to http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/fdc.shtm to find out more about them. Best of luck. |
