| Recently I spent some time with a business partner of mine at a software shop. On seeing the cost of up to date software I couldn't help being chocked. Granted, it does tend to make life easier... When it works! And more importantly, when we've mastered it! But it remains a very heavy investment, especially for a small business. Do you nevertheless recommend it? And if so, why? |

I do recommend it unreservedly. The problem is not "to buy or not to buy", it is "which one to buy". It must be user friendly and adapted to your needs. It must have scope for upgrading and the ability to be integrated with other programmes. It must of course be recent enough to be up to date, but old enough to have gone through its teething problems. Imagine: many micro and small businesses wouldn't be able to exist and operate without this modern technology in editing, invoicing, basic accounting, planning and projecting, diarising and designing. Without our "Office Suites" from various software writers, many single man offices would still need two or three people, at least on a part time basis. And the flexibility, room for creativity and independence such software offers is paramount in allowing more creative energy to be directed towards marketing, product design and development, innovations and many more things furthering progress.
