| I've been in contracting business for almost a year. Last month I started the job which seemed fairly easy. While we were doing it a couple of unexpected problems showed up. Solving those problems has required our time and aditional materials. I won't charge the customer for that extra work we had to do. But I want to know how to bill clients for material plus? |

| My company is in the same line as yours. I also came from time to time on situations like yours. You cannot always estimate all the problems that might show up during the work. From your post I suppose that you made a contract agreement per job. If you did agreement like that you don't have the rights to charge for aditional material. You could stopped the work at the time that problems showed up. Then you should notify the customer about new problem and ask him does he want to pay for aditional material. In your case what is done is done. You finished the job and if I were you I woudn't charge for the aditional materials. Next time be more carefully. |
